Handcrafted in Falmouth, Maine

Wildfire Beads was founded in 2020 when two friends with a history of lampworking combined their creative juices to produce one-of-a-kind necklaces. Jo Miller and Ashley Gartland held design jobs for a good portion of their careers and brought that experience to their new endeavor.

Carefully Crafted Beads

Each bead begins by melting a glass rod in a 1,200-degree flame and manipulating it to the desired size and shape. Once the initial shape is achieved, more glass is melted onto the bead to give it a unique design. A variety of colors, tools, and techniques are used to give each bead a beautiful decoration. When the design is complete, the bead is placed in a kiln and annealed at 960 degrees for one hour, then cooled to room temperature over the course of several hours.

Handmade Jewelry

The annealing process increases the tensile strength of the glass, making it suitable for wearing without the danger of breaking. Each necklace is made from an assortment of glass beads, along with small metal spacer beads, and assembled on a cord or 100% sterling silver chain. Each necklace is unique, just like the beads that it’s made from.

Creative New Designs

The art of making beads is a continuous learning process. We are constantly working on developing new styles and designs for our beads and necklaces. We also work with numerous glass suppliers in order to incorporate as many new colors into our beads as possible. If you’re interested in a particular design or color combination, please let us know!
